This February held a number of exciting events for us here at Rickenbacker's. We'd like to share a few with you!
Our Valentine’s Day celebration was awesome. For 3 days, we wined and dined with a special menu, just for the holiday. Our guests enjoyed an amazing fare, like our special Prix Fixe Menu and some specials that we brought back from our New Year’s Eve celebration. There were roses, chocolate covered strawberries, linens on the table, and giant banana split. We have more photos on the event here. What a great weekend!
On the 21st, we were honored to host the Order of the Daedalions’ monthly meeting in our Albatross Banquet Room. For those of you unfamiliar with the group, be sure to check out their website; what an amazing and fascinating group of men and women who’ve served our country. We started with a casual social hour of cocktails and custom hor d’oeuvres in our bar area, then moved to a great dinner and meeting. Kris, our General Manager, was honored to do a presentation to the group on Eddie Rickenbacker, our restaurant’s namesake.
We hosted the second fundraising event with Hands Across the Borders on Saturday, February 23. We served a great dinner of steak and chicken dishes, including a lovely chocolaty dessert, to help raise funds for their aid efforts for the indigenous, semi-nomadic Tarahumara tribes of Mexico. Our guests were treated to a slide presentation of the past, present and future of the Tarahumara tribes; such an amazing culture and people. There was even display of the tribe’s handwoven baskets and handicrafts, available for purchase. It was a delight to host this event again.
On the 28th, we were honored to host the Local First February Mixer. As you know, we at Rickenbacker’s strive to support local any way we can, sourcing our ingredients from local vendors and farms whenever possible. This was a great event, it was nice to mingle with our local business owners and community members over some tasty appetizers.
We had such a fun month! Let’s do it again, shall we? For more updated information on our events, follow us on Facebook. If you’d like more information on hosting your next event, meeting, celebration or reception, give Lesha our Events Manager a call at 801-627-4100.

We really have something special in store for this year’s Valentine’s Day festivities. For three evenings only, Thursday, February 14th through Saturday, February 16th, we’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with a special menu, bringing back a number of favorites from our popular New Year’s Eve menu, and a special prix fixe menu just for two. Of course, we'll be offering our full dinner menu as well.
Our four course prix fixe menu is just enough decadence to really wow your sweetheart. Start with a succulent shrimp cocktail to share, then with a crisp salad or our special clam chowder. The entrée is amazing – a cut of chateaubriand tenderloin of beef slow roasted. This will probably be one of the most tender steaks you’ve ever had! This steak is served with a side of our white and red mashers, made over the top with the addition of truffles, or our whole roasted stuffed mushrooms, drizzled in our bordelaise sauce. And who could forget dessert? Enjoy a huge, loaded with gobs of goodies banana split – perfect for sharing. All of this for just $79.95 – it won’t disappoint, we promise.
It’s going to be a trio of magical evenings – we’re bringing out the crisp white linens and red roses to grace every table, and for our Valentine’s Day guests, plump and juicy strawberries dipped in fine chocolate to bring home after the meal. Whichever evening you choose to join us, we know you’ll have an amazing, romantic time.
Our Thursday reservations are almost full, but you still can make your reservations for our Friday and Saturday evenings. For updates on reservations and full menus, follow us on Facebook. Give us a call at 801-627-4100 to reserve your table. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Well, we’re full into 2013 and we cannot believe that it’s already halfway through January! We’re so excited for this year, to see what 2013 has in store for our restaurant. 2012 was such a great year for us here at Rickenbacker’s. Let’s get a bit nostalgic and take a quick look back at what 2012 brought us.
We reopened in March of 2012 with a new menu and new look, and boy has it been an incredible journey! Countless lunches, dinners, events, caterings and parties later, we’re still committed to focus on what we do best: an amazing dining experience with excellent food and superior service at a price that’s easy on your pocketbook.
In May, we had a blast hosting the Hill Air Force Base Air Show, ‘Warriors Over the Wasatch’, VIP reception. We featured a spectacular 100 foot buffet in our airplane hangar with global fare, including a taco bar, multiple carving stations, dessert towers – the works! Meeting the amazing pilots, including Team USA, Tim Weber and Kirby Chambliss, was an incredible experience that we will never forget.
In June, we were honored to host the Piper Short Wing Association for their Wasatch Passage 2012 Convention. Thirty-one airplanes flew into Ogden, with 134 attendees from 27 states, Canada and Ireland. We threw them a meet and greet barbecue reception that was off-the-charts tasty.
In October, we hosted our first ever wine pairing event, Rickenbacker’s Rockin’ Country Wine Experience, in partnership with local rock and country radio stations KBER101 and K-Bull93. Live music was provided by local talent Jake Johnson, Hugh McDonald (bass guitarist of Bon Jovi) and Eric Munoz of Salt Lake City’s Metal Dogs. The place was packed! We had over 200 attendees enjoying five wine and appetizer pairings, rockin’ tunes, and excellent company.
We were proud to host the Ogden Weber Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours in early November. We had such a great turnout, and it was fantastic opportunity for local businessmen and women to mingle and network over delicious food.
Thanksgiving was amazing – we were completely booked and fed over 300 people! We featured a traditional menu that included the all favorite holiday fixin’s including roasted turkey, ham and even our signature prime rib. Assorted pies and desserts were provided to cap the afternoon.
For New Year’s Eve, we featured a special dinner menu to end the year with a decadent bang! We had three separate reserved seatings and filled them all! Succulent seafood and steaks graced the menu along with over-the-top appetizers and desserts. Salt Lake City group the Lightwood Duo graced us with their instrumental talents, setting the mood for the evening.
With all these events, plus the gorgeous weddings, parties, anniversaries and conferences we’ve had the privilege to host, 2012 proved to be a full and exciting year for us. We even witnessed a marriage proposal at table 302 just the other day!
We look forward to 2013. This year, we plan on hosting more fun packed events like wine and beer pairings and community shindigs, including fly-ins where the aviation community can showcase their planes and share their stories. It’s going to be a fun year, for sure!
Keep on the lookout for our upcoming Valentine’s Day weekend menus and specials. We should be posting more information on that in the next few days.
Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more information on upcoming events and specials! Hope to see you soon!

2013…the New Year…it’s less than three short weeks away! What are your plans for New Year's Eve? A quick bite at some fast food joint before you hit the parties with families and friends? We hope not. The last meal of the year should be something memorable, special, something even… decadent. Before you make your rounds on the New Year’s Eve party circuits, why not have your last 2012 meal with us?

Featuring premium cuts of meats, succulent seafood, sauces, sides and even appetizers and desserts, this isn’t a menu for the faint of heart. Think seared scallops with a creamy parsnip puree, served with crispy shoe string potatoes and papaya vinaigrette, or a six ounce tender filet wrapped in hickory-smoked bacon with a four ounce lobster tail, parmesan mashed potatoes and asparagus. And for dessert? CHOCOLATE. Satisfy your sweet tooth with our triple chocolate mousse towers and chocolate pot de crème. And of course, our premium libations are available at your request to enjoy with your meal.
